It has been a while in the making, but we have wanted to start a series of events hosting artisan chocolate makers with a particular focus on American Craft Batch chocolate makers- and the time has finally come.

Our guests for the evening are two up and coming nationally recognized chocolate makers:
· Colin Gasko, owner and chocolate maker of Rogue Chocolatier, based in Minnesota, and
· Alan McClure owner and chocolate maker of Patric, from Missouri.
These are two of the most exciting voices in the emerging new realm of craft batch chocolate makers. Young, passionate, and dedicated, they both have a very distinct voice and sensibility, and really spark a great conversation about what one ultimately is trying to achieve by making chocolate in such a traditional yet revolutionary way. There are currently fewer than 10 craft batch chocolate makers in the US.
We are pleased to announce that during our event Alan will be making the first public introduction of his newest chocolate, and he and Colin have some exciting news to share about a new project they are working on together.
You will have the opportunity to taste the incredible collections of both chocolate makers and get a clear demonstration of the profound impact of the maker’s hand in eliciting the flavors of the cacao bean.
The evening will feature chocolate desserts and focused food pairings created by well regarded Pastry Chef Kristen Murray formerly of Lucier. Kristen will discuss practical use of premium chocolate for desserts, and how she approaches selecting a chocolate to work with.
We really hope you can make it – it is the first time Alan and Colin are visiting Portland to explain their role in the art of making craft batch chocolate. It’s sure to be both educational and fun.

Alan and Colin will also be doing a tasting demo at our main store on Saturday, October 17th, from 2-5 that is open to the public- no RSVP necessary- please come!
This will be another opportunity to meet these fantastic chocolate makers if you can’t make it on Friday evening. Both Cacao retail locations will also feature drinking chocolate made using Patric and Rogue chocolate from Friday, October 16th through Sunday, October, 18th in honor of their visit.
