Summer is holding on a little bit longer and we are now serving

Arbequina Olive Oil ice cream from Salt & Straw at our 13th Ave location. It is a truly remarkable ice cream and one of the best we have ever tasted.

We are proud to be the first establishment in Portland to scoop Salt & Straw outside of their stores!

The olive oil pairs perfectly with all of our drinking chocolates to make a decadent drinking chocolate pour-over.

The warm, rich chocolate combining with the cool, fruity, lightly salted olive oil is transcendent.

We haven’t made many changes to our menu since we opened almost 8 years ago as we only add something when we feel it is an exceptional addition. Allison Jones wrote a great bit about it in Portland Monthly Magazine here PORTLAND MONTHLY.

Come try this delicious late summer treat.

Feast, the annual food festival here in Portland is this weekend and we are excited to share this newest offering at our 13thAve location to all of the attendees of the Grand Tasting! Visit us in the Bon Appetit tent in Pioneer Courthouse Square this Friday and Saturday from 12-5. Tickets available at

 Craque Candied Cacao by Cocanu

Local chocolate wizard Sebastian Cisneros at Cocanú introduces Craque; a simple yet genius and totally addicting new treat in the form of candied cacao nibs. The satisfying crunch and perfect level of sweetness make for ideal snack or as a topping for ice cream, salads, roasted veggies, or really anything you can think of. As a customer said today when tasting “It’s the bacon of chocolate. I don’t really even like chocolate that much and I can’t stop eating these.”

I think we may have a problem on our hands.

Rogue Balao is back! This is another strong example of Rogue’s control and careful craftsmanship.

Limited availability as always…

New Products

Here are a few new things we are excited about right now:

The Rogue Hispaniola is back and this is the best batch yet. Colin Gasko has elicited an intense fruity flavor almost like fruit leather from the Dominican Republic beans, in addition to the familiar flavors of rich cocoa and spice normally found in this bar. This one is addictive and hard to stop eating.

Bar Au Chocolat has produced a new origin bar with beans from Marañon Canyon, Peru. You may be familiar with these beans from the Fortunato No. 4 chocolate from Felchlin, but this is a very different treatment and approach. It is a lovely addition to this elegant and surprising collection from Nicole Trutanich.  The chocolate has a challenging and complex flavor set and is worth tasting.

If you haven’t tasted the DeVries nib clusters you’re missing out. Jesse seems to be eating most of them as we catch him eating them every day! Caramelized clusters of Costa Rican cacao nibs in rich dark chocolate from Steve DeVries, the founding father of the American craft chocolate movement.

A reminder that we always have samples available of all of our solid chocolate bars -please stop by for a taste!

Look for some exciting new exciting additions to our cafe menu coming soon.
